It’s been a bit quiet here lately, but here are some photos taken the last couple of weeks! I’ve just been enjoying my freedom after I finished exams, trying to make the most of each day I have left in Edinburgh before going back home to Norway for the summer. Only a couple of days left here, and it feels so strange…Edinburgh is truly starting to feel like home and it’s going to be weird not being here for 3 months over the summer. Edinburgh in my heart<3

I’m done with my exams for this semester, and can finally take some time to enjoy how incredible beautiful Edinburgh is right now. The Meadows is absolutely breathtaking, so if you’re in the area: go take a look! Definitely worth getting a little fresh air and a couple of minutes of freedom, especially if you’re a student revising for your exams right now (feel your pain, hang in there!). Hoping to get a lot of days outside this month before I head back to Norway for the summer, crossing my fingers that most of the days will be filled with sunshine!

Proud to share the last bunch of photos from my shoot with Kate! I’m really happy with how they turned out and can’t wait to do another shoot with her. So easy when the person you’re photographing knows how to pose to create cool photos.

Went on a lovely walk with one of my flatmates, Ellie, a little while back. There’s finally signs of autumn, which hopefully means more photo walks! Got my computer back now, woooo, so I’ll post more photos here from now on, promise!

I’ve got lots of pieces that I set in place

Recommend a walk up Calton Hill for everyone either visiting or staying in Edinburgh! Forget about Arthur’s seat, this is where the view is breathtaking! Had such a lovely day, walking around taking pictures. Hoping for more sunny days in the near future!

Turned 22 a couple of days ago. My birthday was above all expectations, I have so many amazing friends here that made sure I had a great time! Feels so good to be here in Edinburgh, studying what I’m studying and having so much fun with all my new friends. Can’t say I’d ever imagine doing anything else at this point.

Oh my, I’ve already been back for over three weeks, and today was my first day out with my camera since I got back! Not good. The concept of time is a bit hard to grasp right now, it feels like I’ve only been back for a couple of days, but at the same time it feels like I never left.

My new courses at Uni are so interesting, I’ve met a lot of amazing people, started a new and healthier life style which include exercise a couple of times a week, and  made a proper budget to stick to for this semester. Also passed my exams for the first semester, which was a huge relieve!

The weather today was so lovely that you’d have to be a fool not to take a walk outside. So i layered up and went out with my camera, exploring all the beautiful places that Edinburgh has to offer. Today’s trip went up Regent Road, and it only took a couple of hundred meters before I found a beautiful old cemetery called Old Calton Cemetery.

It might seem a bit odd for some people that you would choose to go for a lovely afternoon walk in a cemetery, but there are just so many amazing photo opportunities there! The old graves with green moss on top of them,  the details and the colors are just perfect for some nice pictures. I find the peace and quiet so relaxing, and usually imagine how peoples lives where when reading the old graves, what they did for a living, how old they were and if they had kids, wives, husbands. A cemetery reminds me more of the life that was than the actual death.

Also went up Calton Hill. Will post pictures from that later this week. Quite a busy week coming up, so it might be good to “store” some pictures! I’ll promise to keep the posts to a more frequent level than what it’s been the last three weeks!

Exams are coming up.

Time to fight with blood, sweat and tears!

Edinburgh Zoo

Went to the zoo with one of my friends this week, hoping to get some great pictures of all the animals. Unfortunately, most of the animals were either sleeping or… not there. A lot of empty cages made the day into something that could remind us of  a game of “hide and seek”. The animals were hiding, and we couldn’t find them. Also, most of the animals had very limited space, which made me kind of sad. I’m used to the amazing zoo in Kristiansand, where the all the animals have huuuuge areas.

Anyways! It was a nice day, and we did get to se the giant panda (you have to book an appointment to meet the panda!), and we had a good time in the quest of finding the animals.

Don’t think I will go back, though. I prefer them in their wild habitat, not in a  5×5 m cage.

I’ll just walk the earth

It seems like no matter where you go, there is some enormous castle hiding behind the next turn.  It is so pretty here, I still walk around like a tourist with my camera, taking pictures of every single building. We had some nice days now with sun and that great autumn air, which is perfect for taking lang walks and exploring the city even more.

I moved this week to a self catered accommodation and got four amazing flat mates! So happy right now, this was what I wanted the whole time. I can finally make my own food and eat whenever I want!

A trip to Leith for a pint of Guinness

This Saturday I went to Leith to finally fulfill my promise: drink my first Guinness while wearing the weird, orange earring I got as a gift earlier this summer.

My sunshine and I got on a bus which 30 min later dropped us off in Leith, a surprisingly short trip with a lot of beautiful buildings to capture with my camera on the way. We still look like tourists whenever we go outside, looking more up pointing at all the buildings than checking if we walk on red lights. It’s a miracle that we haven’t been hit by a car yet.

Have to say, the Guinness tastes just as bad as every other beer I’ve ever tasted. I survived long enough to get a picture taken before I gave the beer away to my sunshine while enjoying some red wine myself. All in all a great day.
