Summer means our yearly visit to the Norwegian Zoo in Kristiansand, with my two dear friends Camilla and Elisabeth! We always try to go before the busiest summer months start, simply because it can be so stressful to walk around and look at the animals when there’s literately thousands of people trying to do the same. Just like last year, we picked a perfect day! There were so few people, and the weather wasn’t too hot and sunny, so the animals were all active and easy to spot. We even got to see some proper lion action (as well as the tigers!), which rarely happens since they usually just sleep in the shade when it’s hot. I’ve been to quite a few zoo’s, but I got to say that there’s no other zoo that can even come close to the one in Kristiansand! Always a great success, as it was this year as well (:

Ever since I was a little girl, a spring time tradition has been to pick a huge bouquet of Lily of the Valley and give to my grandmother (and usually also one for mum!). After she passed away, the tradition was still kept alive, and every year me and my dad go out together and pick the biggest bouquet possible and put it in a vase on her grave. This flower means a lot to me, it is one of my favourites. When I was 18 I got a memorial tattoo for grandma of this flower, and whenever I see them or smell them, I think of all the nice memories I have of her.

Me, my dad and my sister went on our first boat ride for the summer a couple of days ago, and I actually remembered to bring my camera with me! It’s so nice being back home and breathe in the fresh salt water air again, I wasn’t aware of how much I actually missed these little things while staying in Edinburgh. There is truly no place like home, especially during the summer!

I’ve been home for almost a week now and the weather’s been sun sun and more sun ever since I got back. So incredible nice to be home with my family and just relax and do whatever I want without stressing about exams. I’ve been really busy since I got back, my days have been filled with things to do from morning to evening, and I have so many photos to share already!

Been back in Edinburgh for a week now, time flies by so fast! Already got so much work to do, so this semester will be a stressful one, I fear. Finally doing some more animal related courses, though, so it’s very interesting!

Happy New year everyone!
Still no snow here in Norway, only rain, rain and rain (much like Edinburgh!). My dad will be back from the North Sea in a couple of days, which means there will be more time to go hiking and take photos 🙂 Can’t wait!

Dug up some photos from my summer in Risør! Can’t believe it’s almost half a year since June was here, feels like just a month ago! I’m just gonna stop promising to frequently post photos here, cause lets face it, it’s not gonna happen. But I’ll try to be a bit better than what I’ve been so far (was that a promise? lalala).
Exams are coming up, so not much of an exiting life to brag about. I do still have a lot of photos left from my summer in Norway which I haven’t shown you guys yet, so there’s hope for future post (:

Sorry for little to no activity here the last two weeks, I am currently without a functioning computer, so I have to go to the library to access my blog/mail/uni notes. Really annoying, but I’ll see if I can get my computer fixed over the weekend. Went for a nice photo trip with one of my flat mates the other day, but can’t upload the pictures before my pc is working again, so I’ll post an old post that I had in my draft folder for now. Hopefully people will still enjoy the photos!
I’ve been to many zoo’s in my life, but I have to say that Dyreparken i Kristiansand is something special. I love how the wild life section is HUGE, and if you want to see any animals you’d have to either be really really lucky, or be there when they are being fed. The animals are not forced into small concrete cages where they’re displayed as objects for tourists to enjoy (like a lot of animals in Edinburgh Zoo), but the whole zoo is based on what’s best for the animals. The zoo in Kristiansand, Norway is also in the world class when it comes to breeding, which tells a lot of how comfortable, happy and healthy the animals are!
If you’re ever in the southern area of Norway: take a day trip to the Zoo in Kristiansand! You’ll need at least a day, since the area of the zoo is massive! This is no ad, btw, I just really love this zoo!
