That trip that gets stuck in your mind

In ’09 my family and I went to South Africa on safari for ten days.
It was the best trip ever, and I still find myself thinking of going back almost every day.

School is challenging, but really interesting at the same time, even though I must say most of the lectures we have leaves me sitting there like a big question mark. Hopefully this will get easier after a while when I’m more used to everything happening in English.

It’s finally weekend, which means time to relax and spend some time with my sunshine. Hoping to fit a trip to Leith in to my schedule today. I have a promise to keep and a postcard to send.

Promise to post some more pictures from Edinburgh and hopefully Leith in the near future, due to crappy weather there hasn’t been much opportunities to go on adventures with my camera this week.

Happy birthday to my good friend Camilla today! Miss you, you little ginger. You would fit in perfect here! Haha

Look around, choose your own ground

Self portraits done in black and white. I find myself enjoying my place behind the camera instead of in front. Not much of a model in me, I guess. Took these pictures a while back, thought I might just post them instead of having them on my hard drive and eventually forgetting them.

Life in Edinburgh is still great, though a lot of rain makes it hard to go on any photo walks in the afternoon… Joined a photo society at school, which might help me get some inspiration again. We are meeting this friday, can’t wait!

I won!

So, during freshers week we had something called “moosa dollars”, which pretty much is fake dollar bills with a picutre of a moose on them. A bunch of people had them, and you had to do something funny/weird/extraordinary for them to give you one. So during freshers week you had a chance every day to collect as many as you could, and then at the end of freshers week there would be an auction where you could bid on different things with these fake money.

At first I was kinda “neh” on the whole “collecting fake paper money”-idea, so I only had five of them. But then when I found out about all the cool stuff you could bid on, I just went “crazy norwegian”-style and tracked down as many people with moosa dollars that I could find. My best move was to sing. In norwegian. As bad as I could. The song? Itsy Bitsy Spider.

After about an hour of bad singing and a bunch of people laughing at me, Ì had over 60 moosa dollars.

This is what I won:

I’m so happy! A free trip where I can bring my sunshine and explore so much of Scotland…for free! 😀

I also won a free haircut for both me and my sunshine, and a free meal for two including red or white wine. Yay!

Pollock Halls, Edinburgh University

This is where I live! Baird House at Pollock Halls!

Everything is great! Freshers week is (finally) over. I feel too old for this. Partying seven days a week with next to no sleep what so ever, meeting a bunch of new people every day, new names, new places, new rules. I must say, I was a bit exhausted when the week was coming to an end.

Started my lectures on monday, and everything seems so… exciting! Can’t wait do dig down in my 1300-thick biology book! So far this is everything I hoped for, and even more. Hoping to get some time to talk to everyone back home this week, so people, log on to skype!

Oh, yeah, btw: I won a bunch of great stuff at the freshers auction, which I will tell you all about in another post.
Can say as much as this: a free trip costing over £230!

Sunniva – In the cold, cold night

Sunniva again! The last photos from our summer shoot. I find these to be the best pictures we haven taken together so far, just love the light and how she looks so much like a “dead” doll! Once again, I must confess, the inspiration came from Lill and her amazing pictures!

Life is good! I finally start my classes on monday. Hopefully this will mean a bit more free time to take some pictures!

My first post from Edinburgh!

The first picture from Edinburgh. From the hotel we stayed in the first night.

The reception at Pollock Halls, where I live. And Arthurs Seat (the mountain) in the back!

One of the buildings at our campus.

Found these awesome duck-socks at Primark, and convinced my sunshine to buy them. They are so cute!

From Pollock Halls were I live, and to my sunshine, there is a 20 min walk through this beautiful park. Just love having him so close, it makes everything so much easier.

Everything is so great here! I love it! There hasn’t been that much time to sit on the computer, and even less time to go out and take pictures, but after this week things will calm down a bit! I can promise a bunch of amazing pictures in the near future. Almost all the buildings in Edinburgh looks like they could have been in one of the Harry Potter movies. I love that.

I will be posting some more pictures from my photoshoots earlier this summer just so the wait between posts won’t be too long.

Sunniva, apple. Part two

Part two of the shoot I had with Sunniva this summer!

Tomorrow is my last day in Norway before leaving for my new life in Edinburgh! Can’t wait!

Aurora. Part two. In the flesh

Another part from the shoot with Aurora. This was such a fun and impulsive shoot, which seems to be the perfect way for us to take cool pictures. It’s always the impulsive shoots that turn out the best. And hey, don’t you just love her tattoos!

I will be moving to Edinburgh in just four days, which right now feels so unreal. Have to start that packing process soon, but I’m a bit confused about what to pack! What on earth should I pack when moving to another country? I tried to make a list, and so far it looks like this:

* Toothbrush

* Rain clothes

* Wool socks

* Camera and computer

What more do I need?
